Lieutenant Colonel Jan H. Rassaerts is a broadly and comprehensively trained general staff officer with more than three decades of experience in the armed forces as well as in academia and politics. He has served at all tactical levels, including twice as commanding officer, and has gained profound experience through a variety of deployments in a multinational environment. After successfully completing General Staff courses in Germany, Poland and the UK, he held various high profile positions at the strategic level as Military Assistant, SME and Policy Adviser to senior military leaders as well as political principals in Germany and the U.K..While most of these roles focused on operational level planning or short-term policy frameworks, he has also worked on NATO defence planning, long- term capability development in the EU as well as national concepts and multinational doctrine. Jan H Rassaerts holds a Master of Arts degree from the Helmut Schmidt University in Educational Sciences, a MA from KCL in Defence Studies and a MA from the University of Buckingham in Miltary History and Contemporary Warfare.
