Dr Gervais Rufyikiri

Gervais Rufyikiri has a diversified experience both in the academic and political fields. During his position as Vice President of Burundi (2010-2015) and previously as President of the Senate of Burundi (2005-2010), he contributed to building post-conflict institutions, initiating and implementing reforms for good governance, political stability and economic growth. Gervais has been involved in teaching and research in diverse fields and universities. Since 2017, he carries out research and teaches courses at the Geneva Center for Security Policy on the topics of leadership, security, governance and development in fragile states. He also teaches courses on Climate, Water and Food Security at Webster University Geneva, and on Sustainable Development at SWISS-UMEF University of Applied Sciences. Gervais was educated in Burundi and Belgium. He holds a doctoral

degree in biological, agronomic and environmental engineering from UCL (2000).
